City of Smyrna
The City of Smyrna highly values the important role education plays in building a thriving community and strongly supports the Cobb County schools in our community. Acknowledging the work of the finest teachers and staff in the profession, involved parents, and a supportive community are regular elements in the City’s quest and program of work to support and showcase the quality of the Smyrna area schools.
The City of Smyrna is an attractive and fulfilling place to live for a variety of people. Young, cosmopolitan adults, baby boomers and families continue to be attracted to Smyrna’s mix of walkability, location and access to amenities. In fact, Smyrna has a younger and more educated population than the nation or the Atlanta MSA. The percentage of residents who are college graduates is almost 10 percentage points higher than the Atlanta MSA. Smyrna’s attractiveness is reflective in the amount and type of growth that it has experienced since 2000. There has been a 67 percent increase in the value of the median sales prices for all homes since 2000. Median sales values for existing homes have increased at an even greater rate than new home values (76% versus 62%).
